The National EEA Strategy and Action Plan was endorsed by Commonwealth, state and territory environment ministers on 27 April 2018. To oversee the implementation of the strategy, a interjurisdictional steering committee has been formed with representation from the following government agencies:
- The Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment
- The Australian Bureau of Statistics
- The New South Wales Department of Planning, Industry and Environment
- The Queensland Department of Environment and Science
- The South Australian Department for Environment and Water
- The Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning
- The Western Australian Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions
- The Australian Capital Territory Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment
- The Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries. Parks, Water and Environment
- The Northern Territory Department of the Chief Minister
